RE: 2000 Bounder 36s
ok - I think this deal is a SCAM...
Read the e-mail I got from the seller:
Once again, for the payment, we will proceed as follows:
- $3,000 moneygram deposit ($2,900 to pick up) sent to you by your wife, in Marion, that you will pick up when we meet, and payable to me in front of the public notary when signing over the papers.
- for the balance you give me a check.
No funds will be exchanged until the full inspection on the rig is completed and you declare satisfied with it.
I will also give you a full fuel tank for your way back home.
As soon as your wife manages to do the moneygram deposit into your name, in Marion, I will book my flight ticket for at least 24 hours before and meet you next day, see the rig and all the papers, test drive it, check it at DMV, inspect it at the dealership and if as expected, we seal the deal.
As soon as the deposit is done, I will consider it a deal with you and reject all the other incoming offers I get, get my flight ticket and send you my flight details.
All your wife has to do is to go to a moneygram office in your area and tell people there she wishes to send $3,000 to her husband (you), in Marion Iowa.
It will only take you a few minutes and there will be no extra charges for you, because as I promised, I will pay for the $90 moneygram
deposit fee.
In fact, please ask her to subtract the moneygram fee from the amount to send, so when we meet the amount to be picked up wioll me $2,900.
When we sign the papers, I will consider it a $3,000 deposit, because as I mentioned, I will pay for the moneygram fee.
To call moneygram for the deposit's confirmation, I would need the following details:
- the reference #
- sender's full name and address, as on the receipt - your wife, I suppose
- receiver's full name, in Marion - you
- amount sent - $3,000 ($2,900 to be picked up by you).
I will be looking forward to your response.
As I mentioned, I have the title clear, on my name.
I can guarantee you that you'll love the rig, my father took very well care of it, he always garaged it and serviced it on time...you'll see
all the service and maintenance records too.
If the rig proves not to be as I mentioned, you have my word that I will pay for the costs of your tickets or trip costs.
So, from my point of view, I can have the deal done any time you wish.
I told you that I am in the military. I am stationed at Scott AFB, IL.
I am not allowed to leave the base without a strong reason.
Also, I came up to Marion 2 weeks ago to meet someone who told me he is very interested in my motorhome, I took 5 days off to meet him, but he never showed up, he just told me that his lender did not approve his loan and he is no longer able to buy the motorhome.
So, I made all the trip for nothing.
It is difficult for me to leave the base, I also don't wish to make the trip again for nothing, so I propose you to meet in Marion,
see the rig and all the papers, test drive it, inspect it at a service or mechanic, as you proposed, check it at DMV, and if you find it as
expected, handle me $3,000 in cash in front of a public notary and for the balance you can give me a certified check or whatever you prefer, in 6 months.
Please then ask your wife to send the $3,000.00 ON YOUR NAME, here, in Marion and as soon as I get the deposit confirmation, I will take up to 5 days off and meet you and have all the things done.
In order to place the deposit, please go to www.moneygram.com and you will see there a button "FIND US".
Please click on it and you will see where is located the nearest money gram office from your place.
You can also send the deposit from your local Wal mart, if there is one in your area.
Or if you let me know your address, I will map quest the moneygram offices in your area.
All you have to do is to ask your wife to go in person with cash in hand to your nearest money gram office
and tell people there that she wishes to send $3,000.00 to her husband (you), in Marion Iowa.
Once the transfer is done, they will give you a reference number (a 8 digits #).
Please email it back to me together with:
- sender's full name and address - your wife
- receiver's full name , - you,
so I can call them for the confirmation.
Or you can simply scan the receipt from Money Gram and email it to me, so I can check the transfer's availability.
As soon as I call MG and they confirm the deposit, I will take 5 days off , Fly up to Marion, meet you and have all the deal done.
If you like the motorhome, we go together to a moneygram office and you pick up the deposit and handle it to me, and for the balance you can handle me a certified check, as I mentioned, or whatever you prefer.
If by any reason the unit proves not to be as I described it to you, you have my word that I will pay you the moneygram fee and the costs of your trip.
I need help selecting CG's for a 2-week long trip
Ok so here's the story - I'm going on the Hot Rod power tour in a few weeks and will need campgrounds in each city that are nice, but not too far from town. I'd like to have a dump station and a place to just get some rest and cook breakfast. I don't plan to spend much time at the CG... just pull in, sleep, get up, eat and leave.
I'm also looking for a nice spot to stay in Branson, MO for a week - this will be with the family - 2 kids - 2.5 years and 4 months and the wife...
Here's my schedule:
Saturday, 6/7/08
Arkansas State Fairgrounds - Little Rock, AR
Kickoff Cruise Night Sponsored by Painless Performance.
Sunday, 6/8/08
Missouri Entertainment and Event Center - Springfield, MO
Monday, 6/9/08
Heartland Park - Topeka, KS
Tuesday, 6/10/08
Nebraska State Fair Park - Lincoln, NE
Cruise Night Sponsored by Edelbrock.
Wednesday, 6/11/08
Iowa State Center - Ames, IA
Thursday, 6/12/08
Rochester Community & Technical College - Rochester, MN
Friday, 6/13/08
The Alliant Energy Center - Madison, WI
Anyone care to give me your suggestions?
RE: Class A vs. Class C
I've got 2 kids - almost 3 yo boy and a 4 month old. I'm not really even considering a Class C - as they are not very "roomy" feeling inside and it's not as pleasureable to drive. With the A you have the huge windshield that makes for a nice open feel. The cargo capacity is much better...
As for one to look at - if you want a diesel in your pricerange I have been looking at the 1999 Winnebago Adventurer 34V - it's a 34' long and has the queen bed, the sofa bed and the dinette bed. The bathroom has a small tub and I have found several in the mid $40K range.
RE: 2000 Bounder 36s
no plates on the photos of the motorhome...
it's in very nice condition and it's cheap... so it's either a really good deal or a scam.
its on RVsearch.com
2000 Bounder 36s
Ok - here's another one I'm looking at. here's the short story:
Cummins ISB 275HP
4-speed Allison MT643
Original owner - dad passed and son is in military and is selling.
It was stored inside and only used for trips, not living in long term
The price - under $30K
New tires
shiny and good looking...
but something smells a little fishy with the seller. Being in the military i can't call him, but he is supposed to call me. I have been exchanging e-mails with him and it's been very formal...
The coach is less than 300 miles away from me so I'm tempted to go and check it out.
Anyone have any thoughts on the Bounders? What to watch out for ?
Thanks!
RE: Would you consider buying a new Class A today?
I'm shopping and would consider new. In 2008 there is a $250K section 179 deduction ability, so we'll see how that works out.
i am also shopping used - whichever makes the most sense!

RE: 1997 Newmar Mountian Aire?
Yea - I have been waiting, and seeing the prices drop, but I ask - how much further can they drop?
I suppose if fuel keeps going up, there will be those that can afford it and will keep going, and there will be those that can't afford it and either have to sell or let the RV be repo'd and sell at a repo auction.
I have been up in the air about a lot of them, and just keep looking and asking questions.
The Mountian Aire looks like a really good deal for the $$, but maybe I'll just rent for this summer and see what next looks like.
RE: 1997 Newmar Mountian Aire?
Spartan Chassis
Cummins 325HP engine
I got an e-mail back from the owner - he is the original owner... he has replaced the water heater, furnace, microwave... the front TV just died, but not replaced yet.
I am curious about a few things - i read a while back that there were some problems with ball joints on the front suspension?
The seller said fiberglass roof, and it did have a leak, but it was caulking at a seam that has been fixed.
The asking price is just under $50,000 - which is lower than NADA low retail for this RV...
I'm just wondering if there are other things to watch out for specifically on this make/model.
Thank you!
Lookin for a family friendly place to go near Branson, MO
The title says the story...
I have a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old set of boys and plan to rent a class A motorhome and wanted to find a nice CG near or around or in Branson, MO to go enjoy a week with the family.
Can you help reccommend a CG?
How about things that are a must see?
Things to avoid?
Thank you so much for your input!!
1997 Newmar Mountian Aire?
I found one locally to me at a very nice price. It's got the following:
66K miles
Independent Front Suspension
Diesel generator
I have seen a few photo's - but with a 1997 - is there anything to look out for? The seller is the original owner.
Thank you!!
RE: Where did all the posters go on this class A forum?
Been busy with other family related stuff...
Out at meetings all week...
De-thatched the grass today...
yea, that's all other stuff I've been doing other than searching and posting on the RV.net...
RE: What will happen if gas is $7 per gallon by 2012?
Dave D -
Interesting thought... Take nuke power and make fuel to go in vehicles...
Could be batteries or other "fuels" like H2 or?
The issue I see is a short term one - where the infrastructure needed to get the nuke online and the fueling system in place and the vehicles in place. We have a huge amount of work to do to get everything transferred over, unless they are able to synthesize gasoline and diesel.
I have done a fair amount of research on Peak Oil, and while I don't deny it, I also think much of what's going on right now is a smokescreen for something else. what I'm trying to say is there is a lot of manipulation going on in the marketplace...
I plan to capitalize on what's going on - make more so I can get on with my purpose in life. My Purpose in life!
Cheers!
RE: Cost of gas last trip
I read this and have been thinking...
I don't own a MH yet, but I'm just about to buy one. I'm looking for one that I can afford to pay for without making obscene payments on for an obscene amount of time, and will be able to put fuel in it when I want to go somewhere with my family.
there are lots and lots of motorhomes for sale by people that owe much more on them than they are worth. It's a sad deal, but I have gotten to meet a lot of really nice folks in my shopping!
RE: 1999 Winnie (Itasca) Suncruiser - Opinions?
Anybody else have one of these puppies care to give their opinions?
I have been looking at several of these, and I've found 4 of the Winnebago's that I can get for the $40-45K range. One of them has a diesel generator, all the rest have LP generators.
I've read a little about the "53" block that has a tendency to crack...?
Does having the 19.5" tires vs. the 22.5" really make a big deal on a coach like this one?
From one of the guys I talked to he said the engine turns about 2200RPM's at 65MPH, so I know this is higher RPM's than the 6-speed coaches, but from most people I've heard this coach will get anywhere from 8-11mpg. I guess it depends on the speed I travel?
So here's the real kicker question - is there any better coach out there for the $40-45K price range than this one?
Here's what I like:
- diesel
- under 35' with a huge slide, so it will fit into state parks easily
- bathtub for the kids
- 80" queen bed (not the 74 or 75")
Here's what I don't like:
- lack of raised rail chassis
- 4-speed vs. 6-speed
- "older" looking coach style (vs. many of the 2000 models)
Thanks!!
RE: Hi All
Well - I have a popup camper now - and I really enjoy it, but with the two young boys - and we want to travel some - go see the USA... it's the best way to travel.
What I've heard is that when boondocking - you need to be conservative with all your "resources" that being water, battery life and fuel.
If you plan to use your massive computer system out in the boonies - then you'd need mega batteries with solar panels on the roof, or run the diesel generator...
So you have 5 monitors? Gee I only have 2 24" monitors, but I'm not a stock/option guy. Maybe I should throw a few buxs at you and have you make me a few more, then I'd go and buy a $300K coach myself!
Bring yourself a nice laptop and get a docking station to hook up extra monitors. Maybe you should get a coach with a BID LCD tv that you can use as a monitor, or maybe a video projector and screen - I've seen it done before...
I'd be happy to chat more - if you'd like to send me a PM with your contact info.
